Ravello is a famous touristic locality, known all over the world thanks to the fascination of its panoramas and to its beautiful monuments. The city of Ravello is located on a small plateau, and dominates Maiori and Minori: from here you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic sight on the Tyrrhenian Sea and the gulf of Salerno.
The tourists find in Ravello many interesting monuments. The Cathedral is dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta: it was built in the 11th century and it has a museum attached, where are kept sculptures and other works of art.
The noble families who lived in Ravello had built magnificent dwellings,: we remember Villa Rufolo in the historical center, in front of the cathedral. The villa dates back to the 13th century, but was modified in the 19th century; its terracings are famous because of the view and of the extraordinary gardens. Another historical dwelling is Villa Cimbrone, built on a rocky cape, surrounded by a wide park, adorned of statues, fountains and grottoes; a famous point is the Terrazza dell'infinito (terrace of infinity), a panoramic point from where you can enjoy an incomparable view on the Gulf of Salerno and the Amalfi Coast.
